Loved it!!! The sandwich was great (meatball) plus the cost was low....under 9 bucks for a meal...sandwich, cookie, chips, and drink...a great deal for a great sandwich. It has a NY deli feeling which I loved and the ladies behind the counter were awesome. I will be going again and taking my friends with me.

We love going to here for a burger and beer. They have a great atmosphere, and we have always had great service and great food. They absolutely have the best burgers in Utah. If you haven't been, you need to go. I would however, recommend you get there early or go on a week night. Weekends fill up very quickly and it can be frustrating finding a table.

I love just walking into this place. The delicious aromas of garlic, cheese and, spaghetti sauce all greet me with a promise that something wonderful is going to please my tongue and subdue my hunger! The food is always delicious! We have used the catering option from here as well. The food was on time and delicious! To ensure that Spaghetti night is special at the house, I follow up my meal with a purchase from the market. Some of the best Hot sausage and cheese anywhere in the valley. The staff is friendly, the market is quirky (which I love). If you love Italian food, stop by you will not be disappointed!

Love. This. Place. You can feel the history once you walk in the door. The food is great, the service is excellent and you can tell that everything is made with the love of a local small business. I recommend The Med to everyone I know!

This is the only Italian place I can handle. Everything is home made. Having real Italian food growing up and going out to eat for Italian it's rare you get good food. It's local, the family runs it and they have some of the best import stuff you can get your hands on.

Absolutely love this place! Love the food, the service and the owner, she is wonderful. I either always get the prosciutto sandwich or spaghetti and meatballs. Everything always tastes fresh and well prepared. Highly recommend...even over Tony Caputo's.

Haven't been here in several years, so long I forgot what I have eaten here. I tried the metro today on previous recommendations on yelp and it was a great sammich! It's hard to describe, but being a warm sandwich really makes it complete. I did see allot of people getting lasagna and I am going to try this next time.

I stopped going to MMD a few years ago because everything tasted like DIRTY REFRIGERATOR!!! We were so disappointed we threw it in the garbage. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY - BARF!! Bought marinated Green olives, they were so mushy and flavorless - the garlic bits are hard and lack flavor! GO TO GRANATOS on 1350 S 300 West - they ROCK the Mediterranean food market! I can't believe people that frequent MMD don't taste the refrigerator!!

So lets start this off by saying if you have not had the pizza sub you have not lived! I have been here a couple times now and each time has made me want to come back again. Food is great, the service is great. My first experience was at the lunch time rush and even stacked with people the service was wonderful. I have driven passed this place countless times growing up here in Salt Lake and I am a little upset that I have just started going here. Try it, you will enjoy!

This place is a hidden gem. Hidden because it's so inconspicuous that you'd miss it in the car market on state st. And gem because it has such an amazing Italian food., great coffee, and a very friendly staff! !! I wish I had this place closer to my home.

If the incredibly helpful staff isn't enough to draw you in, then surely the amazing goods for the right taste, the right amount, for the right price will. Specialty items that are hard to find (fig oil?) and delicious items (Asiago cheese?)... THIS IS THE PLACE!

I had the Mediterranean Market cater a party I had. What a fabulous job!!!! Everything was delicious, fresh and the best ingredients were used!!!! We had an assortment of pastas, salads and sandwiches. My guests loved everything! I think it's the biggest compliments when guests ask for the name and number of your caterer!!!!!

I have not been here forever, partly because I can never make it within their hours! Buttttt I just love the turkey pesto sandwich and chocolate macaroon cookie with all of my heart. I cant wait to go back!

Reading the reviews and talking with some of the people that were also eating there I can tell some people really love this place. I am allergic to wheat and therefore couldn't order most of the stuff on the menu. I did have a chef salad that was very good. I only gave them four stars because of their lack of gluten free menu. I understand it's a traditional Italian place but in this day and age in an urban environment like SLC they really should think about offering something for people with that allergy. As it stands I will never go back because there just isn't much on the menu I can eat. If they added even a couple of pastas that were gluten free I would totally go back.

The Med Deli is a VERY popular lunch place which serves delicious, home-cooked (like) meals. The sandwiches are very good and the hot pasta dishes (varying daily) are wonderful. I have never had better lasagna than they serve (on Thursdays?): Huge square of it, with two large slices of delicious, crunchy garlic bread and a very nice side salad, all for approximately $10. I haven't tried all the sandwiches, but my absolute favorites are the hot turkey pesto and the hot sausage. I only order the latter (and the pasta dishes) when I don't need to be productive for the rest of the afternoon (and when I'm sure my wife won't find out I strayed from my diet!). The staff (especially, Annette, the proprietor) is especially friendly and the service is prompt (important if you take a lunch break during business hours). The Med Deli is my "go to" spot for entertaining lunch guests and I highly recommend it.

Super friendly staff, their food is the best! My all time favorite is the Lasagna! We have been eating here for years! Great place for lunch!

We have been going to this place for over 20 years. I get the hot roast beef sandwich every time. I just love it. They make it the way I want and they are always so friendly. The only thing I don't like is that they close at 5:00pm

So I have a personal rule before I leave a review and that is to eat at a place at least twice. I've had times I've eaten at a place and it wowed me and then go back to disappointment. Today was my second time eating here and it won me over. The first time I went the place was crowded and had a bunch of people sitting and enjoying here food and talking. I had the Metro based on several reviews and it left something to be desired. While the meats were good, but I felt like I was eating a Jimmy John's sub (Yes, this is an insult). It was packed full of iceberg lettuce and lots of it, even the tomato slices were lost in the mix. The meat was just too small of a portion compared to the everything else. I picked out little pieces of all three meats and they seemed tasty and distinct from each other. I am no Italian meat but I could have eaten a healthy serving of each. I honestly don't remember the the provolone either. They should double the meat and cut the lettuce in half. So today when I arrived it was much less crowded. Maybe because it was 15 degrees outside and most people were smarter than I was. I was looking over the menu and the gal working the register asked if she could offer suggestions. I asked how the meatball was and she said it was "FANTASTIC" she also said that if I hadn't tried the Sausage I should...She told me that they could do a half and half so I could sample both. Giving my first impression this was my second chance to make my list or not of lunch places to frequent. I took it to go and headed back to the office to consume. Warning...you will need the fork and knife that is included in the back. This thing is MESSY in all the right ways. Both halves were packed with their respective meatballs and sausage. They are covered in some of the best marinara sauce I've had and then cheese melted on top. So lets get the negative out of the way, I wish the cheese had been melted more than it was. By the time I sat down I needed to put it on a plate as the sauce had soaked the bun. I first attempted to pick this thing up and I had it ALL OVER my fingers. I decided that I would be using utensils. The first half I attached was the sausage. The meat is firm and meaty, not full of fat fillers that make it greasy and ugh. It has a little spice and fits perfect with the marinara sauce. The meatballs are "FANTASTIC" and are in my top 5 for Meatball subs I've tried in Salt Lake. The meatballs have good flavor. By this I mean they aren't overly seasoned like chain restaurants. The meat is decent flavor and firm. The bread is good Italian based hoagie and really good when it has soaked up the marinara. The sauce is fresh tasting and seasoned well. You can taste the garlic, basil and a few other seasonings but nothing is over powering the sweet fruit taste of the tomatoes. Everything comes together in this sloppy mess to form a sandwich that was very enjoyable on this very cold day. (Just so you know, I'm going to try the lasagna on a Thursday in the near future because the sauce will make it worth trying.) This place is going to be a place that I put into my "go to" places for lunch. It is worth trying. The prices are reasonable and the food is above average.

After looking at the reviews for this place, I finally decided to go there for lunch last week. Wow. Really good food, and I wish I would have tried the place a long time ago. Tried two different items. The Metro sandwich, and the lunch special, Lasagna. The sandwich was very good, but limited myself to a few bites of the lasagna, and saved it for dinner later that night. And what a dinner that ended up being. Very flavorful. In truth, I was not planing on getting the lasagna, but when I saw it in front of at least one person at almost every table, I knew I should just get it, taste it and enjoy it later. If you haven't gone yet, make the decision and just go. You'll not regret it.

Mediterranean Market is a percfect lunch spot. Quick, always friendly service, great selection of sandwiches (hot or cold), panini, entree type meals and salads. They have a broad spectrum of imports to buy, including a wide variety of dry pastas, sauces and spreads and some very reasonably priced oils and vinegars. There are several must-try sandwiches...the Metro (I love a side of balsamic to accompany), Milano Panino, and a side of the Italian Pasta is always a great accompaniment.

Went today for lunch and got the sausage sub. It was pretty good sausage and a bit on the sweet side. Service was decent enough. The real plus was it was located in the parking lot of where I was working. The real steal was the combo which got you a drink, chips and a cookie for an extra $1.95.

Best panini's you'll probably ever have! Very filling, you really only need the half order. It's a little expensive but well worth the money.

This a great place to grab a freshly sliced meat sandwich for lunch. They also offer hot plates of spaghetti made with different meat choices. I am always partial to Italian meat sandwiches. And I finally discovered my favorite sandwiches would be the metro. Three different Italian meats, warmed to perfection. Along with the deli they have a little market. You can get imported oils, pastas and the stuff like that. They also sell there deli meats to go.

The Metro Sub is yummers to the tummers! I never thought that I would like cured meats in a hot sandwich but the Mediterranean proved me wrong. Def worth a try!

Quaint little market, and okay deli. Cheaper than Caputo's, but nowhere near the selection of merchandise. Probably cheaper on the whole for the limited goods they do sell. Caputo's deli food is better, but more pricey. I had a Chef Salad at the Mediterranean that featured lackluster iceberg lettuce, a mediocre dressing, and some fairly nice meat and cheese. My dining partner had a Panini that he described as nothing special, and rather dense. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

On a hot streak lately for good places and this is definitely another. Now, the rating is a bit higher than it deserves from my accounting so far, but as we've all noted and lamented more than a few times, no 3.5 stars available. As to the market space of this, it is a very weird, unique and pretty amusing space. There are tables scattered all over the place and two gigantic glass deli counters with some very curious stuff in them, including some fantastic looking meats. On the other side is a fairly standard run of import stuff, nothing too special, but a pretty decent selection if quality is what you're after. They evidently are fairly judicious in what they're willing to stock and good on them for that. Eclectic imported desserts abound nearly everywhere and they even have those cool little chocolate liquor bottles. While the sign says Italian deli, there is also a fairly substantial Greek presence here as well. Now, all of this just makes for a neat (and somewhat expensive) smallish market to pop into if the food doesn't stand up. At the point before I got my sandwich, it was a solid 4 because the intricate, jumbled and crammed spacing I found fascinating to wander around in. The sandwich is very fairly priced for what you're getting. The panini I got was huge and cooked extremely well. If there is one food group that I have a love/hate relationship with, it's Italian. Love pizza, love most of the meats and cheeses, love the wine, but when it comes to some of the things outside of those areas, it becomes very hit and miss, i.e. I have never eaten a meatball sub (kind of reaching to put it into the Italian category, but the red sauce is very clearly intended to mimic spaghetti sauce and/or marinara) and never will. Ever. Also vinegar and olive oil is NOT butter. Definitely not. Anyway, my litmus test for Italian places is salami. To me, a good piece of salami is one of life's greatest pleasures (it almost hurt when Town & Country served up such crappy salami the one time I tried it there) and the salami here is very, very good (if I find soppresatta on the menu in a sandwich, I'm going to heaven on the spot, I think). The Milano sandwich I got, however, suffered slightly from an overabundance of sauce, which distracted and detracted somewhat heavily from that glorious salami. Word to the wise for next time, I guess. This made is a good sandwich rather than a very good to great sandwich, but overall, this is the kind of place that I can (and probably will) see myself going through their menu. Even though drink selection is as near complete of a misfire as a place can be, this is almost certainly going to be replacing Firehouse Subs for my hot sandwich needs on my lunch list. Update 03/25/14: Apparently I can't update this soon after the review, but no matter. The damn shop was haunting me so I went back again today. A few things of note: 1) service here is spectacular and on a level like nowhere else in the valley. If I was rating based solely on service, this would be 5 stars alone, as no one else is even close. 2) This place may just be purveyors of the best panini to be had in Salt Lake and maybe Utah overall. 3) They have just replaced Firehouse on my lunch list for hot sandwiches.

This place is only getting four stars because it kind of reminds me of New York places. Little market with nothing worth buying and all is over priced considerably. The sandwiches were decent. My friend got pastrami and after seeing the awesome bread it came on I was jealous that I didn't get that instead. I got the Metro...AND the Italian. I have absolutely no shame. I want to eat everything before I die, which may also be the cause of my death so they work hand in hand. My sandwiches were ok, just wish I got the pastrami instead. I heard Caputo's downtown is slightly better. So you may wanna check it out. But this place is definitely chill and gave me a nostalgic feeling that in turn caused me to take my two sandwiches and eat them in my room alone while crying to myself. Enjoy!

I have been eating lunch at Med Deli for about 7 years and they never disappoint. The hot turkey pesto sub with tomatoes is the bomb. Their pasta salads are great, too. The decor could use some updating if only to cheer the lovely women who work there and give it their all every day. I hope the owners pay them well, because they make the dining experience quick and wonderful every time!

The Market itself isn't too impressive you can find the same stuff at other places pretty easily, but the deli is pretty nice and the sandwiches are big, full of meat, and still cheap. Certainly better than Subway, more to it, and cheaper. Definitely worth stopping by for lunch if you're in the area.
